Microfluidics enables the precise control, manipulation and analysis of fluids in the microliter to picoliter range. Dolomite is working in most aspects of microfluidics-based projects from chip design, chip fabrication, fluidic interfaces, flow cells, pumps, valves, detectors and integrated systems. With rapid prototyping facilities for the design and fabrication of glass and quartz devices, Dolomite can help you get your project off to a fast and successful start. Dolomite can take you right through to low or medium volume production in glass or quartz and high volume production in polymers. |
Microfluidics enables the development of smaller, faster, more cost-effective, and more powerful instruments.
|
Key to the development of microfluidic devices is the use of microfabrication techniques capable of creating microchannels and complex structures in the glass. Our main fabrication processes are photolithography, wet etching of microchannel structures, micro-drilling of fluid ports, thermal bonding and surface modification. Our capability to undertake traditional precision glass processing techniques such as mechanical and optical polishing, grinding, cutting and dicing allows us to extend the range of geometries that are possible.

Here are just a few of the diverse applications that can be addressed using microfluidic technology developed by Dolomite for microscale manipulation of fluids, small organisms, microorganisms, cells and even molecules:

At Dolomite we help instrument manufacturers around the world develop smaller, more cost effective and more powerful instruments. Once our customer has explained the requirements of the device that they need developing, we generate a full design including For some of our customers we also undertake concept generation and evaluation, also the modelling of fluid flow, heat flow, diffusion effects, pressure effects and reaction kinetics. Once a device is fabricated, we can also undertake the testing and validation of the performance of the devices prior to delivery.
